A Memory of Alice Demske Hansen

On May 8, 2012, my dear cousin Alice Demske Hansen passed away at the age of 33 from an infection after having her third baby.

Alice, I am so glad I was able to be reminded of your charming personality on two occasions before you passed away. In late March, Kyle and I came over for a dinner in your "really tiny" apartment. You really wanted to wait until the weather was warmer so we could eat outside, but we managed to squeeze in your little kitchen:). As soon as we entered, we saw your desktop was a picture of me from when I was in high school wearing my tennis uniform. This was definitely a hilarious gesture (this just shows the sense of humor she had). Also on your framed chalkboard (as seen in the group photo) read, "Welcome Gwyenne and Kyle!" Being the only family I had in Provo, I felt like it was a loving homecoming :). So for dinner we had salad, lasagna, and lemon meringue pie! Afterwards we started the "grand tour" of the apartment(if you don't know Alice, picture her saying this in a charmingly sarcastic tone). And before we even started, she assured us that we already seen half of the apartment (I just picture her saying this and it makes me smile). So then we caught up a little bit and then we were on our way.

On the second occasion I saw you, it was just a week before you had your baby girl. My mom and sister were in town for the weekend so we stopped by to have some ice cream! You were pregnant as ever yet chipper as always! Edward and Charlie were running around and horse playing with Hilary while you gave my mom and sister the "grand tour!" Then of course we played with your very squishy pregnant belly. After catching up with you, your family, and Hilary we left your apartment not knowing it would be last time ever to see your beautiful face.

Alice, I will never forget your beautiful personality and the wonderful mother that you were. I will continue to think about you every day and follow your example. Our family will never be the same with out you and we all love you dearly.

Charlie, Edward, and Frances, I all want you to know that your mother was the most talented, cheerful person on this planet. Her undeniable love is so strong for you all that it is felt by everyone who knew her. I hope that even though she isn't here physically, that you may feel her love through her wonderful spirit. All of you could not have had a better mother than she. As you grow older and learn about her I know you will be as proud of her as she was of you. I hope that when you are older you will read this and understand what an amazing person she was. I know you all will be as talented, smart, and witty as she was. I love you all with all my heart and may you always carry a piece of her as you go about your life here on this earth. Heavenly Father has a plan for you and your family to be reunited once again, and that you will all be together forever.

First Day of School.

Well..so today was the first day of spring semester. It was such a drag -_-. I will be taking Book of Mormon 122 and Information Systems 303. Both of my professors seem really old fashion -_- my favorite. The only thing I LOVED was the beautiful weather during my walk to school and that the school was like a ghost town! The parking lot I cut through is usually PACKED with cars and there wasn't a single car parked there. AND the computer labs and study areas that are almost always packed were completely empty as well. It was wonderful since I hate the greater population of the student body at BYU:) Yipeee!

Boyfran Numba Two.

This week school ended and Kyle left for BYU-Hawaii on Wednesday, which means I have had to find a whole new way to entertain myself :(. The first two days were TORTURE. I did nothing but watch TV. But thankfully enough I've started to hang out with my new boyfriend, Heather :). The reason I call her my new boyfriend because we do the same things that Kyle and I did :D.

BACKGROUND ON HEATHER: I was in the leasing office to get my keys to my new apartment and overhear this girl say she's moving out of #126. I interrupt her and say, "That's the room I'm moving into!" Long story short, while she's moving out and I'm moving in, we click INSTANTLY. We even have the same laptop. I can't stop talking about her to Kyle about how she's my long lost sister. I know this sounds creepy but it's the truth. Even though she moved to a different room, we got to hang out sparingly throughout the semester.

Anways...on Friday, I went with her to Salt Lake and we had lunch at Blue Lemon (yummm!) and tried on clothes at Forever 21. Saturday was chill, we went to Cocoa Bean at 11:40 at night...that always seems to be the time our cravings come. And on Sunday, we made dinna and got Taco Bell for a midnight snack! Lots of food I know... -_-. Well, school starts tomorrow! Yay! Not...thanks for reading and please comment! :)

From SLC to Provo

Wow, this semester is pretty much over. Two more finals and I'm done with my first semester at BYU! If you didn't already know, I haven't had a very pleasant semester. It has been such an adjustment coming from LDS Business College to BYU. For instance...

  • I went from fun, upbeat, diverse, Salt Lake...to small college-town Provo.
  • I went from having the most perfect job at Coldwater Creek...to competing to find work as a secretary, with no luck.
  • I went from making all A's....t0 barely passing my classes.
  • I went from having the most awesome friends...to being surrounded by PROVO GIRLS.
  • I went from attending a school with 3,000 students...to a school with 30,000 students.
  • I went from The Gateway/City Creek...to University Mall

Although I've had such a wonderful time at BYU (loaded with sarcasm)...I will be attending BYU-Hawaii for a semester in July! I haven't quite decided if I'm going to stay there or not. I want to get a feel for the school and social life. Also, I will really consider graduating from BYU if I get accepted into the I SYS program.

I've just been so frustrated because my plans have taken a detour. At least I'm young and have time; I just need to be patient!

Hey Stranger.

I know I know, I haven't blogged in forever!!!

This weekend we had some fun adventures.

Kyle and I went ice skating for free at some random stake's activity.

Did a little shopping at Fashion Place mall since the Orem and Provo malls have absolutely nothing! Particularly, a LOFT :) Oh, and coming back we got a flat tire -_-

And of course, hot drinks and cupcakes at Cocoa Bean :)

Now that I've discovered this new app called Lightbox (an Instagram app for Android users), I've been going picture crazy. Hopefully this will inspire me to blog more.

Halloween Festivities.

So for FHE on Monday, we helped out with a Halloween party for the children! Kids are so weird! There was one girl who didn't want to eat any because she was lactose intolerant and picked up the tub of caramel and started reading the ingredients. There was another little boy dressed as a matador and was goin to town with the apples. Then there was this other girl who looked depressed and was about to cry. I can't wait to have my one perfect child:)

P.S. I know my blogging skills suck right now...i'm trying to improve -_-
